Ever since the iPhone 4 was announced there has been a lot of talk about "how many PPI the human eye can see" and if the iPhone 4 really had a retina display. Today I thought I'd clear up some confusion.
Is the 326 PPI the iPhone 4 and above enough to be classified as a "retina" display?

AMD tries to highlight their products with staged release of info
This is kind of old news by now but I thought I'd bring it up anyway since there is quite a bit of AMD vs Intel going on lately.
The Tech Report published an email they got from an AMD employee a few months ago. The email is regarding their A8 and A10 "APUs", which are CPUs and GPUs on the same chip. Basically, what AMD told The Tech Report was this, "post GPU benchmarks before the product is released. This will highlight the strength of the GPU we are using in our product. However, you are not allowed to post CPU benchmarks for a month or so".
The Tech Report says that the first article always creates the most buzz, so if they are only allowed to post benchmarks where the A8 and A10 perform well in, then the overall opinion of those products would be higher than if they posted everything (including the benchmarks where they aren't that good in) at the same time.
I highly recommend you guys read both of these articles:

My thoughts on Tek Syndicate's new FX-3850 video
(.gif just for comedic relief. I am not trying to imply anything)
Tek Syndicate made a new video (link here) where they addressed a lot of the issues with the first one, but it's still far from perfect if you ask me. So, here are my issues with their new video.

Boy killed by power supply
I saw this video called "Teen electrocuted while working on unplugged computer" and though I'd clean up some misinformation it is spreading.
First of all let's look at what the kid the story is about did. He opened up the power supply (like in my image) and touched the capacitors (the big black cylinders). The capacitors are basically big batteries, and will hold a charge even if the PSU is unplugged. They hold a quite big charge as well, so it can actually kill you. This is why power supplies has the warning labels on them telling you to NOT open them. I do not recommend you to open it even if you're just going to clean the fan. Just blow some compressed air into it or something.
So that's what he did wrong, and sadly that mistake ended up killing him. So what are the reporters in the video doing wrong? They are interviewing a computer repair guy, who will obviously tell you to go to his store instead. You won't get killed by simply messing with a computer. The only thing which can kill you is if you open the PSU and touch the capacitors. The rest is harmless. And I would not recommend buying a 20 dollar power supply like the man in the video said. You should always get a good, solid PSU, because if you get a bad PSU and it breaks, then it might kill all your other components as well.
Oh I just thought of another dangerous computer component (that barely anyone uses). A Delta fan might actually be able to cut off the tip of your finger. Those fans are crazy.

My thoughts on Tek Syndicate's FX 8350 results
You guys have probably seen this man already, right? It is logan from Tek Syndicate (Razethew0rld on YouTube).
If you haven't then don't worry. All you need to know is that he makes YouTube videos about technology stuff, and owns a website. Now, he has gotten quite a lot of popularity recently, especially his video where he talks about how Apple hasn't really invented anything (very good video, go watch it here).
Anyway, I was going to write a post about him sooner or later but it seems like I have to do it now, thanks to his latest video "AMD FX 8350 vs Intel 3570K vs 3770K vs 3820 - Gaming and XSplit Streaming Benchmarks". This video is spreading so much misinformation and I am really doubting Logan's credibility after it.

Mother gives her son an iPhone, and set 18 rules
So this is apparently news worthy these days and I've seen it on a ton of websites.
A mom gave her 13 old son an iPhone as a Christmas present and he had to agree to a contract with 18 bullet points.
Here is a link to a "news" article on abc NEWS.
Here is the list of rules he has to obey and what I think of them.

Google Images no longer allows you to turn safe search off
Google Images in the US (aka, only the .com version) no longer allows users to turn the safe search off. This will most likely be implemented on the other Google sites soon.
Might not seem like a big deal, but the thing is that even with"Filter explicit results" turned off, you will still only get the same results as the old "Moderate" filtering. Basically it now looks like this:
Old Strict filtering = New filtering with "Filter explicit results" turned on.
Old Moderate filtering = New filtering with "Filter explicit results" turned off.
Old filtering off = No longer exists.
You can get porn and other content like that if you use a very porn related term, but if you use some of the more vague (for example most fetishes) for image searching then you won't get any nudes.
Why did they do this? I honestly have no idea. I can't think of a single reason why they would do this. Basically what they did was remove the option to turn filtering off.
Here is a very Not Safe For Work image if you want to see a comparison. I censored some of the images because they were too lewd.

The Nexus 4
Google and LG has worked together and released a new Nexus phone running the latest version of Android. It's not just any version of Android though, it's the pure "vanilla" version of Android, which was developed by Google themselves (no bloat) which also means you'll get very fast updates. Not only does it have fantastic specs, it's also very cheap.
Here are the fantastic specs:

Microsoft Surface RT pricing is out! 499 USD
Seems like someone at Microsoft messed up and released the price for the RT a bit too early.
499 USD for the 32GB model without the touch cover.
599 USD for the 32GB model with the touch cover.
699 USD for the 64GB model with the touch cover.
At that price I think Microsoft will have a tough time selling that many Surface RTs, and I would not call these prices "competitive". It costs as much as the iPad, which in my opinion has a pretty big Apple tax (does have a really nice screen though). It is worth noting that you only get the 16GB iPad model for 499 though. So you could say the Surface is 100 dollars cheaper than the iPad when you compare them with the same capacity.
Anyway, at that price I think the Pro model is much more attractive, which should cost about 900 dollars for the 64GB model in order to be "competitive" vs Ultrabooks. The Pro model will have a far better screen, much more powerful processor and GPU, a very nice stylus with palm blocking, and a few other nice things over the RT model.

New Galaxy S 3 commercial
Oh Samsung, how I love your marketing department.
This (as well as making awesome products) is why I love you Samsung.
And for those of you who missed their previous commercial, here is the Galaxy S 2 vs iPhone 4S one.
What I really like is how Apple fanboys will be really bad because it hits a bit too close to home for them.
Oh and before you go "baww they are just ripping on the competition because they are bad themselves", you might want to think twice before throwing rocks in a glass house.
The MacFags on Reddit is already in full fanboy mode.

Things you should not do when arguing
Here is a list of common fallacies or ways of arguing which you should NOT use in a serious argument. They make you look stupid and the other party will have a hard time taking you seriously.
This is far from a complete list but I've picked out a few I often see people use (in no particular order).

Tim Cook tells lies onstage, and people mindlessly believes him.
One think I noticed during the iPhone 5 keynotes was that Tim said the new iPhone 5 is, and I quote "the world's thinnest smartphone". How thin is it? it's 7.6mm thin, which is 18% thinner than the 4S.
So the thinnest smartphone in the world (the iPhone 5 according to Tim) is 7.6mm thin?
I find this rather strange since there is a very well known Android powered phone which is 7.1mm thin (there are also 2 different version of the Razr which is thinner than the iPhone 5)... There is also this less known Android powered phone which is 6.65mm thin... And then there is this 6.7mm thin Android powered phone.
I guess "worlds fifth thinnest smartphone" didn't sound quite as good.

About the Windows 7 guide
So I just got an email regarding my very popular post "How to pirate Windows 7 the correct way" and Google has decided to take it down.
I still got the guide saved, but I am a bit too busy right now to do anything (school just started and all that). I might be able to get it up again later since I do not believe I am doing anything wrong. I am not hosting anything illegal, not breaking any copyrights etc. Just linking to sites where you can download things which might be used for illegal things, which Google does all the time themselves. I will look into it when I can.

Samsung did not copy Apple
I think I am going to write a more detailed post about this later, but I want to post at least something for now (it's been ages since the last post and I blame all the good anime I've been watching).
Charles Verhoeven is my new hero. For those of you who do not know that is, he is Samsung's attorney in the current Samsung vs Apple trial. He uses logic and reason against Apple and ain't afraid of nothing.
Here is one of the pictures he showed the jury.
Still think Samsung copied Apple?

Piracy is not theft, and not really bad either
I've seen quite a bit of "piracy is terrible, you're stealing and breaking the law" videos/posts as of late. Since I don't have anything better to do while banned from /g/ I thought I'd give my 2 cent on piracy.

Windows 8 to be released October 26, 2012
Windows 8 will be generally available the 26th October 2012. Upgrading from XP, Vista or 7 will cost $40 which is really nice compared to the older prices (109 USD for a retail copy of Windows 7 Home premium upgrade).
They have not said anything about the price of OEM and non-upgrade versions yet.

Yet another stupid Apple patent...
Why do the patent office keep approving Apple's patents? Why?
This new patent is about how documents, lists and lots of other things are displayed on a touch based device.
Needless to say, I wouldn't be surprised if some other device like Windows Mobile or Symbian did these things before Apple did.
You can read more about it on PatentlyApple or FreePatentsOnline.

No, you will not lose Internet access....
So the media is trying to cash in on this whole "FBI will cut internet access to hundreds of thousands of people" crap and I'd like to shed some light on the whole thing.

iPhone and OS X vurnable to malware, just like any other computer system in the world
New malware for the iPhone, as well as OS X have been discovered by Kaspersky.
The one for OS X spreads via an email. The email has a ZIP file attached to it. If you unrar it then you'll see a JPG, but the archive also includes a malicious program which installs itself automatically and basically gives the creator of it access to the computer. The creator can transfer files, run commands on the computer and other things.
Read more here: Kaspersky
The iOS one is a bit of a surprise since this is, as far as I am aware, the only time a real malicious piece of software have made it to the app store. There have been instances of programs getting through before and doing things Apple don't want, such as Handy Light which used to let you tether your phone. Anyway, this app called "Find and Call" is also in the Android Market. What it does is uploads all your contact info in the address book to the creators server, and also spams your contacts with SMSes with a link to the program.

So remember, you're never 100% safe no matter what OS you use.
