Galaxy S 3 will use quad core CPU

An executive from Samsung confirmed in an interview with the Korea Times that the successor to the Galaxy S 2 will be using a quad core A9 processor, which is most likely the Exynos 4412.

The SoC is using Samsung's own telecommunication logics which means they won't rely on Qualcomm anymore. The SoC will support LTE and since it is built into the chip it will also have lower power consumption than the current LTE implementations.
The executive also said that the new manufacturing process (32nm high-K metal gate transistors) will yield up to 26% more performance while cutting power usage in half. Yes that's right, half. I assume the increased performance is mostly from higher clock rate since both the old Exynos processor and the new quad core one will use the Cortex A9 architecture, but with a much improved GPU (quad core Mali-T604).
