The Samsung Galaxy S 3

So there are lots of rumors regarding the Galaxy S 3 floating around right now like it will have a 1920x1080 display and a quad core 1.5GHz CPU.
However, I don't think these are entirely true. This is what I think the Galaxy S 3 will be like.

SoC
Samsung are currently manufacturing a few of those which may or may not end up in the Galaxy S 3.
Exynos 4212 - Same CPU and GPU as the Exynos 4210 found in the Galaxy S 2 but slightly higher clocked.
Exynos 4412 - Quad core Cortex A9 CPU clocked at 1.5-1.8GHz with a Mali-T604 MP4 GPU.
Exynos 5250 - Dual core Cortex A15 CPU clocked at 2GHz and a Mali-T604 MP4 GPU.
Exynos 5450 - Quad core Cortex A15 CPU clocked at 2GHz with a Mali-T658 MP4 GPU.

All of these are made using high-K + metal gate transistors which are 32nm big. These transistors are much much better than the currently used 40nm transistors.
I would personally like to see the Galaxy S 3 use the Exynos 5250. The 4212 is very uninteresting for obvious reasons, the 4412 uses the old Cortex A9 architecture which is far worse than Cortex A15 clock for clock (dual core A15 clocked at 1.5GHz often beats the Tegra 3) and a quad core A15 clocked at 2GHz would drain the battery much faster than the dual core A15.
Sadly, I think the processor which will be used is the Exynos 4412. Quad core at 1.5GHz sounds and looks better on paper than 2GHz dual core, at least when you don't look at the architecture which most people don't do.

I saw someone say the Galaxy S 3 would have 1.5GB of RAM, which I seriously doubt. The reason for this is that the Exynos 4210 runs its memory in dual channel, and all of the processors I have listed above has much higher memory bandwidth than that CPU. I don't really see how Samsung would be able to go up to 1.5GB, thus losing dual channel, and still be able to push the memory bandwidth up by a lot.
It will either be 1 or 2GB, most likely 1.

Camera
Samsung currently has 3 options.
An upgraded 8 mega pixel camera.
The 12 megapixel camera with a 1/3.2" sensor.
The 14 megapixel 1/2.33" sensor.

To put that in perspective, the Galaxy S 2 has an 8 mega pixel camera with a 1/3.2" sensor.
The SoCs posted above (except for the 4212) can handle 1920x1080p video at 60 fps so I wouldn't be surprised if that will be the video resolution and framerate at the highest quality setting. With a bit of luck the Galaxy S 3 will use the 14 mega pixel one with the huge sensor.

Screen
Now this is an interesting area because we do not know what screens Samsung is currently and planing to make. I assume they make at least one kind of qHD (960x540) SAMOLED screen since they are starting to pop up in newer phones. However, 960x540 seems a bit low, especially since they are manufacturing the 1280x720 screen used in the Galaxy nexus. My guess would be a 1280x720 SAMOLED screen, maybe non pentile. Samsung is already making a big phone for the people who want that, so I don't think (and hope) they won't make the screen huge. The 4.3" screen on the Galaxy S 2 is almost too big in my opinion, and if the Galaxy nexus had real buttons as well as that big screen, then I would have called it too large.
Samsung showed a video at CES of their new camera and you can see a new device at around the 07:12 mark. I personally don't think this is the Galaxy S 3 because it has regular buttons. I think phones will switch to on screen buttons like the Galaxy Nexus has.
Anyway, my guess would be a ~4.6" 1280x720 SAMOLED+ screen (non pentile) and maybe some other improvement. Either that or a PLS panel like they use in some of their tablets, but I doubt that.

Other than that, I think it is pretty safe to say that it will have the stanard stuff as well as some of the higher end features.
Bluetooth, NFC, micro USB with MHL, USB On-The-Go, Ice Creamsandwich with Touchwiz, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, GPS and all that other good stuff.

Release date
Last but not least, the release date.
I was expecting it to show up at MWC 2012, but Samsung said that they would not reveal it there a few weeks before MWC took place. So when will it be released? My guess is that it will be revealed at the event held by Samsung the 22th March May in France.

Anyway, don't get your hopes up too much. I expect the Galaxy S 3 to be really good, but please don't start dreaming about unrealistic things like full hd screens and such, because you might end up disappointed.
